Climbing Mount Shreshtasar, rising above Yelpin, is a journey through history, nature, and legend. This coned-shaped hill, named after the wild “shresht” plant that covers its slopes, is crowned with the ruins of an ancient fortress overlooking the picturesque Shresht Gorge. The trail winds along narrow and sometimes rugged slopes, revealing wide panoramic views and passing traces of old Armenian settlements, including the ruins of churches and ancient gravestones. As you ascend, the landscape becomes increasingly wild and quiet, where only the sound of the wind and the calls of birds break the silence. Local legends speak of treasures hidden within the mountain, adding a special sense of mystery to this climb.
