Kazbek (Georgian: Mkinvartsveri) is the easternmost five-thousand-meter peak of the Caucasus, located on the border between Russia and Georgia. Kazbek's elevation is 5,033 meters and the climbing difficulty of the classic route from the Georgian side is rated 2A.

The best time to climb Kazbek is in August and early September when the weather is not too cold, there are no significant temperature fluctuations, and there is less chance of heavy rains and thunderstorms.

During the ascent, we will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Greater Caucasus Range, including Elbrus, the Bezengi Wall, and other peaks.
Gergeti Glacier
We will walk through the Gergeti Glacier, located on the southeastern slope of Mount Kazbek.
A break from civilization
During the climb, we will stay in a cozy tent camp at an altitude of 3,800 meters.
Mineral springs
After the climb, we'll relax in the mineral springs located at the base of Kazbek.
History and culture
We will visit the Gergeti Trinity Church, which offers a stunning view of Kazbek and Stepantsminda, as well as the old stone meteorological station built in 1934.
Georgian cuisine
We'll have the opportunity to try and enjoy Georgian cuisine.
Climbing Program

Day 1: Yerevan - Tbilisi - Stepantsminda

In the early morning, we'll depart from Yerevan to Stepantsminda. Along the way, we'll visit several fortresses and take a stroll through the town of Bolnisi, which was once home to Germans from Baden-Württemberg. On this day, we'll also relax by the Zhinvali Reservoir, sample various types of mineral water, and enjoy traditional Georgian khinkali. In the evening, we'll explore Stepantsminda, take in the panoramic view of Kazbek, have a delicious dinner, swim in a mineral water pool, and spend the night at a Georgian guesthouse.

Right after breakfast, we’ll drive to the Gergeti Trinity Church, where our hike will begin. The trek to our campsite will start across alpine meadows and then proceed over the Gergeti Glacier, taking approximately 7-8 hours. We’ll transport our heavy gear by horse to the meteorological station.

Acclimatization climb. Practical exercises on snow and ice terrain, equipment handling. Preparation for the climb. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 4: Summit Day

Ascent of Mt. Kazbek (5,033 m). A classic high-altitude climb: an early wake-up and breakfast, followed by the start of the ascent at 2:00 AM with headlamps. After a photo session at the summit and descent, we'll rest, pack up the camp, and begin our descent to the Gergeti Trinity Church, where a transfer to Stepantsminda will be waiting for us. After a delicious dinner, we'll head back to Yerevan.

After a delicious dinner, we'll head back to Yerevan.

Day 5: Reserve Day

The reserve day is designated for choosing the most favorable weather conditions for the summit attempt. If the reserve day is not needed, we can spend another night at our tent camp and descend to the Gergeti Trinity Church the following day.
