During this adventure, we will ascend the legendary Mount Kilimanjaro (5895 m) via the breathtaking Umbwe Route, visit the cities of Moshi and Arusha, marvel at stunning natural landscapes, and soak in the mesmerizing views of the African savannahs. At the end of our trip, we will go on a true safari to experience the wild beauty of Africa and fully recharge after the climb.

The entire trip will last 9 days: 6 days will be spent on the mountain, with the remaining time dedicated to sightseeing and relaxation. The climbing itinerary includes an acclimatization day to improve our chances of reaching the summit.

Mount Kilimanjaro, standing at 5895 meters, is the highest peak in Africa and is located in Tanzania. It consists of three volcanic cones: Kibo (5895 meters), Mawenzi (5149 meters), and Shira (3962 meters). The distance between the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks is approximately 11 kilometers. Climbing Kilimanjaro is part of two renowned programs: the "Seven Summits" and the "Seven Volcanic Summits."

Climbing Program

Day 1. Arrival

✓ Arrival of the group at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO), meet and greet by a representative of the We Hike Armenia team, followed by transfer to the hotel.

✓ Check-in at a cozy hotel with comfortable rooms, hot water, a swimming pool, internet access, and friendly staff.

✓ Evening briefing by the We Hike Armenia team, gear check, and discussion of the climbing route.

Day 1. Arrival

✓ Arrival of the group at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO), meet and greet by a representative of the We Hike Armenia team, followed by transfer to the hotel.

Day 2. Ascent from Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Camp
✓ In the morning, the guide and the support team will arrive at the hotel, meet the group, and conduct a short briefing before starting the climb.
✓ Transfer to the Umbwe Gate of Kilimanjaro National Park (1,800 m).
✓ After registration and obtaining the permit, the group will begin the ascent to the first camp, Umbwe Camp (2,850 m).

✓ This day involves a long trek with a significant altitude gain. It's crucial to choose the right pace and stick to it to ease acclimatization.

Day 2. Ascent from Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Camp
✓ In the morning, the guide and the support team will arrive at the hotel, meet the group, and conduct a short briefing before starting the climb.
✓ Transfer to the Umbwe Gate of Kilimanjaro National Park (1,800 m).
✓ After registration and obtaining the permit, the group will begin the ascent to the first camp, Umbwe Camp (2,850 m).

Day 3. Ascent from Umbwe Camp to Barranco Camp
✓ Early wake-up and breakfast.
✓ Start the trek to Barranco Camp (3,900 m).
✓ The tropical forest gives way to low shrubs, revealing the first views of Mount Meru (weather permitting).
✓ A moderately long trek, arriving at Barranco Camp around lunchtime.
✓ Lunch at Barranco Camp, located within a massive volcanic ravine.

✓ Rest in the camp to facilitate the acclimatization process.

Day 4. Ascent from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
✓ Early wake-up and breakfast.
✓ Begin the climb up the Barranco Wall, with an early start recommended to avoid crowds.
✓ A gentle ascent up the wall takes about 1 hour, with a stop for rest and photos against the backdrop of Mount Kibo.
✓ Continue trekking to Karanga Camp (3,995 m), a route with constant ascents and descents.
✓ Arrival at Karanga Camp, followed by a hot lunch and rest.
✓ Acclimatization hike towards Barafu Camp (4,270 m), gaining 200 m in altitude over 1-2 hours and covering a distance of 2.5 km.
✓ Return to Karanga Camp for an overnight stay. Total trekking distance for the day: 5 km, with a duration of 4-5 hours.

✓ The acclimatization hike helps speed up adaptation and increases the chances of a successful summit.

Day 4. Ascent from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
✓ Early wake-up and breakfast.
✓ Begin the climb up the Barranco Wall, with an early start recommended to avoid crowds.
✓ A gentle ascent up the wall takes about 1 hour, with a stop for rest and photos against the backdrop of Mount Kibo.
✓ Continue trekking to Karanga Camp (3,995 m), a route with constant ascents and descents.

✓ Our team will set up the camp, pitch tents, and prepare warm sleeping bags for your comfort.
✓ Guide's recommendation: go to bed early and take altitude sickness medication if necessary.
✓ Stay hydrated and minimize physical activity to improve acclimatization.

✓ Trekking time: 4-5 hours, distance: 6 km.

Day 5. Ascent from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
✓ Morning breakfast in the camp.
✓ Begin the ascent to Barafu Camp (4,673 m), the staging point for the night summit push to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m).
✓ Arrival at Barafu Camp, followed by rest and altitude adaptation.
✓ Our team will set up the camp, pitch tents, and prepare warm sleeping bags for your comfort.
✓ Guide's recommendation: go to bed early and take altitude sickness medication if necessary.
✓ Stay hydrated and minimize physical activity to improve acclimatization.

✓ Trekking time: 4-5 hours, distance: 6 km.

Day 6. Summit Push to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Millennium Camp

✓ A personal guide is assigned for every two participants to monitor physical and mental condition.
✓ Optional visit to the nearest glacier after reaching Uhuru Peak (upon request).
✓ Descent back to Barafu Camp for a two-hour rest.
✓ Continue descending to Millennium Camp (3,950 m).
