Mount Kalasar (2206 m) is a scenic hiking route near the village of Hermon in Vayots Dzor, which has become very popular this year thanks to the opportunity to take a unique photo on a steep cliff with Mount Gayledzor in the background. This hike is ideal for those who love nature and beautiful views but are not ready for a difficult trail.
Along the way, we will see a unique rock formation resembling the famous Troll’s Tongue — the Armenian version is slightly smaller in size but looks no less impressive, especially in photos. We will also visit the ruins of an ancient fortress.
From the summit, wide panoramic views open over the mountains of Vayots Dzor, including the peaks of Srkhonk (Teksar Range) and Sevajayr (Vardenis Range).
We will also visit an old Jewish cemetery and end the day with a relaxing picnic by the river.
The Kalasar hike is a great combination of hiking, history, and beautiful landscapes.
