After checking into the hotel, we head out right away to explore Tehran. We go up to Darband: a mountain stream, open terraces with hookahs, the smell of charcoal-grilled kebabs, and locals who come here every evening for tea and conversations. Or we visit Tabiat Bridge — the longest pedestrian bridge in the Middle East — where at sunset the whole city turns pink, and young people play guitars and have picnics right on the steps. In the evening, we try fragrant Persian kebab, faludeh ice cream, and freshly squeezed pomegranate juice. We get to know the group, catch our first impressions, and realize: Iran will be nothing like we expected.
The day concludes as we arrive in Isfahan, covering approximately 320 km (200 miles). Overnight in Isfahan.
The day concludes with a stroll down Charbagh Street, or “Four Gardens Street,” a historic avenue in the heart of Isfahan. Overnight in Isfahan.
