We invite children and parents on a light and engaging hike to the black lava near Gutanasar!

We’ll take a short and easy route specially chosen for kids. We’ll walk along a scenic trail and arrive at the amazing frozen waves of black volcanic lava — they look like stone waves from another planet!

The kids will learn what a volcano is and how lava forms, get to touch real volcanic rocks, take part in themed games, and practice noticing unusual things in the nature around them.

At the end of the hike, we’ll have a small picnic. Children will be able to roast marshmallows over a campfire under the instructor’s supervision.

The route is suitable for children aged 6 and up.
Why should I go on this hike
  • We’ll visit the famous frozen black lava of Mount Gutanasar and take Instagram-worthy photos against this natural landmark.
  • We’ll see beautiful obsidian stones, also known as volcanic glass, which you can take with you as a keepsake from the hike.
  • We’ll visit the charming Surb Mariam Astvatsatsin Church, nestled on the scenic slopes of the volcano.
  • The children will spend the day in nature and learn a lot about hiking and outdoor adventures.
  • We will teach the children about hiking etiquette, outdoor gear, and mountain rivers.
  • During breaks, we will play various games and socialize.
  • The children will learn skills for responsible behavior towards the environment.
  • We will light a campfire and roast marshmallows together with the children.
  • At the end of the hike, we will make delicious hot dogs together with the children.
